Daddy Daycare is a visual exploration that challenges conventional narratives surrounding Black fatherhood. Through a series of intimate images, it portrays the joy, tenderness, and lighthearted fun shared between a father and his son, Moishe and Eli. However, intertwined with these moments are subtle motifs addressing the criminalization of Black bodies and the adultification of young Black boys. Symbolism like water guns hints at these stereotypes, while the choice of setting, such as a shallow bathtub, subtly challenges misconceptions. These images aim to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of Black fatherhood beyond stereotypes. By engaging with this project, viewers are encouraged to reflect on their perceptions and biases, ultimately broadening the narrative around how Black people are seen and understood.
